Trondheim Symfoniorkester & Opera (TSO)

TSO invites highly qualified candidates to apply for the position as principal cellist.

We are looking for an orchestral musician who possesses good leadership and communication skills. The position is one of two fulltime principal cello positions, shared equally. This entails duty to serve as number two on the first desk as well as number one.

Thursday, May 15, 2025.

 

The due date for applications is Friday, April 11, 2025

Audition by invitation only.

TSO does not cover accommodation or travel expenses.

 

Audition repertoire:

Mandatory

J. Haydn – Cello Concerto No. 2 in D major – 1st movement with cadenza

And

R. Schumann – Cello Concerto in A minor (Op. 129) – 1st movement

Or

A. Dvorak – Cello Concerto in B minor (Op. 104) – 1st movement

Trondheim Symphony Orchestra & Opera (TSO), established in 1909, is one of Norway's leading cultural institutions, based at Olavshallen in Trondheim. The orchestra comprises 86 permanent musicians, with access to 90 musicians through its collaboration with the Trondheim Soloists. Trondheim Vokalensemble (TVE) is also affiliated with TSO's activities, primarily in opera and choral works.
