Jentas is looking for a technically proficient part-time graphic designer with AI experience

The publishing house Jentas is looking for a part-time graphic designer with a razor-sharp eye for good visual craftsmanship and experience working purposefully and constructively with AI.

Would you like to work for a dynamic and innovative publisher? Do you know what a cover that grabs the reader’s attention looks like? Are you detail-oriented when creating graphic products but able to zoom out to the bigger picture when prioritising your tasks? Do you have experience using AI to work more efficiently and deliver even better results? And are you ready for new challenges and not afraid to find alternative solutions?

Then you may be the person we are looking for.

Jentas (part of Bonnier Books) is a small publishing house specialising in the translation of crime, thriller and feel-good fiction from English into a wide range of other European languages, including Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, Spanish, Finnish, Polish, German and more. With us, you will be part of a close-knit team of graphic designers, publishers and project developers, and your tasks will centre on graphic production and on developing and improving graphic workflows.

This will involve:

  • Designing covers for Jentas’ many new releases, primarily within the thriller, crime and feel-good genres
  • Typesetting and, where relevant, entering corrections from proofreaders etc.
  • Ongoing optimisation of graphic workflows, including through the use of AI and new technical tools to strengthen efficiency and quality
  • Ad hoc graphical tasks of a smaller nature, e.g. related to the publisher’s social media presence, attendance at book fairs and similar

We therefore envision that you…

  • Are an Adobe suite power user and are familiar with other relevant graphic design programs
  • Have experience with and an interest in new AI tools, both for use in the graphic work itself and for optimising graphic workflows
  • Have a strong eye for composition, aesthetics, typography, contrast, imagery and more
  • Are structured and detail-oriented, and thrive when working independently
  • Can plan and prioritise your tasks and are able to both set and meet deadlines
  • Are good at collaborating internally in a small team where cooperation, sparring and shared development are crucial, and are also able to communicate precisely and smoothly with external partners
  • Feel comfortable communicating both verbally and in writing in English and, ideally, another European language, which may be Danish but does not have to be

We also expect that you…

  • Ideally have at least 1–2 years of experience as a graphic designer
  • Have experience with print production, preferably for book publishing

We expect to interview candidates on an ongoing basis and would like to receive your application as soon as possible, but no later than 10 November. The position will be filled once the right candidate has been found.

The position is a part-time role of 25 hours per week, based at the publisher’s address. Start date preferably 11 January or as soon as possible hereafter.
Workplace: Smallegade 46B, 1st floor, 2000 Frederiksberg

Please send your application, CV, portfolio and any references by email, with the subject line “Grafiker”, to Chief Graphic Designer Holger Lund at holger@jentas.dk. Feel free to write your application in Danish or English, whichever suits you best. See also www.jentas.dk for a Danish version of this job post.

We look forward to hearing from you!
