1st Concertmaster - Finnish National Opera and Ballet

Finnish National Opera Orchestra announces audition for

1st CONCERTMASTER

Permanent position starting on August 3rd 2022, or by agreement.

AUDITION will take place at the Finnish National Opera on Tuesday and Wednesday May 31st and June 1st 2022.

Required pieces

  • 1) W.A. Mozart: Violin Concerto no. 3 in G major or no. 4 in D major or no. 5 in A major; 1st and 2nd movement with cadenza
  • 2) 1st movement with cadenza from a major romantic concerto
  • 3) Chamber music excerpt; Franz Schubert Octet in F major D.803
  • 5) Orchestral excerpts

From the applicant, we expect

  • High artistic level
  • Previous experience as concertmaster
  • Ability to work in artistic supervisor role
  • Good communication and co-operation skills
  • Interest in developing the orchestra in collaboration with the Chief Conductor and Orchestra Manager

 

€4,858.35 - €5,734.56 p/month

 

The Finnish National Opera and Ballet is one of the leading opera companies in northern Europe. The Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera is Finland’s largest symphony orchestra, with 112 members. The Chief Conductor is Hannu Lintu. Apart from opera and ballet performances, the Orchestra gives symphony and chamber music concerts. The Orchestra has five leaders, two of whom are co-equal 1st Concertmasters. The Concertmasters have access to three highly valued violins: a Domenico Mongagnana, a Giovanni Battista Guadagnini and an Andrea Guarneri. The Orchestra currently has members from 15 nationalities, and the working languages are Finnish and English.
