RULES

Applicants will not be considered unless they meet the following conditions:

They are aged 18 or over on the day of the competition,
- Non-UE nationals must be in possession of their work and residence permits in France as soon as they take up their duties.
II – COMPETITION STAGES
Applications may be pre-selected; in this case, any unsuccessful applicants will be notified by post. Applicants are required to be present in the competition room thirty minutes before the test stage begins.
The applicant may choose to be assisted by an accompanist designated by the National Orchestra of Metz. He/she will be charged for the service.
All tests, except for the final tests, will take place behind screens, and all tests are eliminatory. The jury's decision is final. The competition may include an interview with the jury. The order of tests is determined by the competition jury.
Depending on the results, the jury may choose not to fill any of the positions on offer.
Several applicants may be selected and added to a qualifying list in the event that the selected applicant withdraws. This list will be valid for a year.
Permanent musicians of the orchestra may take part in the competition for positions of a superior category. In this case, they are exempt from the first test stage.
III - RECRUITMENT CONDITIONS
The selected musicians will be contracted for a period of one year, of which the first three months constitute the trial period. The period may be renewed in maximum periods of three years, up to a term of six consecutive years. After these six years, the recruitment period may be renewed for an indefinite period.
Each musician shall be active in the Orchestra for 114 working hours per month (this provision applies to all musicians of the orchestra). Musicians must give absolute priority to their orchestra commitments. They are required to comply with artistic staff regulations. The Mixed Association of the National Orchestra of Metz is a public administrative institution. Any musicians employed by the Mixed Association are non-permanent staff members of the territorial civil service governed by the Act of 26 January 1984, Article 3 (amended by the Act of 13 July 1987) and by the Implementing Decree of 15 February 1988, as amended.
The monthly gross remuneration as of 1 January 2021 is:

In the event of admission, the musician must play an instrument of equal or superior quality to the one presented at the competition, unless otherwise obliged by the requirements of the jury in this regard.
