Finnish National Opera Orchestra announces audition for
2nd CONCERTMASTER
Permanent position starting on July 31st 2023, or by agreement

Audition will take place at the Finnish National Opera on Saturday April 29th 2023.

 

Required pieces
1) W.A. Mozart: Violin Concerto no. 3 in G major or no. 4 in D major or no. 5 in A major; 1st movement with cadenza
2) 1st movement with cadenza from a major romantic concerto
3) Chamber music excerpt
4) Orchestral excerpts

Link for the chamber music and orchestra excerpts will be sent after the application has been submitted.

From the applicant, we expect
- High artistic level
- Ability to work in artistic supervisor role
- Good communication and co-operation skills

Salary range: 4273,86-5044,65 €/month. In addition, instrument and dress reimbursement and remuneration for recordings.

  • The new 2nd Concertmaster will have access to play with a Domenico Montagnana violin (1740) owned by the Opera and Ballet Grant Foundation.
  • An accompanist will be provided but candidates may bring their own pianist if they so desire.
  • The candidates selected for the audition will be informed after the closing date.
  • Position is open to applicants of any nationality.

Finnish National Opera and Ballet

The Finnish National Opera and Ballet is one of the leading opera companies in northern Europe. The Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera is Finland’s largest symphony orchestra, with 112 members. The Chief Conductor is Hannu Lintu. Apart from opera and ballet performances, the Orchestra gives symphony and chamber music concerts. The Orchestra has five Concertmasters. The Orchestra currently has members from 15 nationalities, and the working languages are Finnish and English.

This year the Orchestra of the Finnish National Opera will celebrate it's 60th anniversary.
