CALL FOR PERFORMERS

La Menesunda is the main work and masterpiece by the Argentinian artist Marta Minujín. First created in Buenos Aires in 1965 and now recreated in the big retrospective Intensify Life on CC.

La Menesunda is one of the earliest examples of installation art in history. The work is a labyrinthine installation devised as a fanciful journey through Buenos Aires. Across 11 rooms, the viewer encounters a neon-lit street, a swamp, a beauty salon with a cosmetologist offering lipstick or blush, a bedroom with a slumbering couple and the occasional aroma of fried chicken. Named after the local slang word for chaos, the work is inspired by the buzzing Buenos Aires street life. Guests will be let in the installation one at a time.

Looking for performers for two rooms in the artwork

In the bedroom:  a married couple sits quietly in bed, casually reading a newspaper, knitting, chatting with each other, cuddling (1 woman 1 man)

In the “women’s head”/the beauty salon:  two make-up artists who apply very simple make-up or offer short shoulder massages to the audience (2 women)

The performance is not scripted, and no specific acting qualifications are needed.

The artist is looking for performers age 20-30 years old (or someone who looks the age)
