Chorus members

The Chorus of Dutch National Opera has up to now consisted of 50 fixed members and can be expanded to over a 100 singers for large productions. The chorus excels in a broad opera repertoire and takes on challenges with great enthusiasm. In addition to their famously rich choral sound, the singers in the chorus are also known for their excellent acting skills.
For the Chorus of Dutch National Opera we are looking for:
1st Soprano (1 FTE)
2nd Soprano (1 FTE)
2nd Alto (1 FTE)
2nd Tenor (1 FTE)
Baritone (1 FTE)
2nd Bass (3 FTE)

We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated chorus members with a conservatory or equivalent training and professional singing experience, preferably in a chorus. We work a lot with foreign directors and conductors. A good understanding of English is a necessity. You are a team player at the service of the performances. Adapting to what is needed and being there for your colleagues come naturally to you.

We offer:
- Initially, it concerns a full-time position for a period of 12 months with the intention to extend.
- In the case of a full-time contract of employment, the salary is based on the Dutch National Opera & Ballet CLA and amounts to a minimum of € 3,108 and a maximum of € 4,206 gross per month. These amounts are exclusive of 8% holiday allowance.
- 25 days summer holidays, 5 days winter holidays and 11 additional days;
a pension scheme.

Auditions take place in person at Dutch National Opera & Ballet in Amsterdam. The auditions consist of a preliminary round (blind audition and ensemble singing) and a main round. Candidates prepare 5 contrasting (opera) arias for the purpose of solo singing. Candidates will receive the audition rules and music scores for ensemble singing when they are invited to the preliminary rounds. The first blind audition date is January 25, 2024.
