Ensemble MidtVest (Denmark) is seeking highly qualified candidates to fill the position clarinettist (full time, permanent) in chamber music.
Application deadline: January 20th, 2025
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an audition in three rounds, and, if successful, a trial of one year.
Audition will take place in Herning, Denmark, March 8th and 9th, 2025.

1st ROUND (behind screen):
W.A. Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A major, K.622, 1st movement: Allegro
2nd ROUND:
Option 1:
J. Brahms: Clarinet Sonata in F minor, Op. 120 No. 1, 1st movement: Allegro appassionato
Option 2:
J. Brahms: Clarinet Sonata in E flat major, Op 120 No 2, 1st movement: Allegro amabile
3rd ROUND:
Chamber music with musicians from the ensemble, followed by an interview lasting 10-15 minutes.
C. Nielsen: Quintet for winds, 2nd and 3rd movements: Menuet and Theme and Variations (including all variations)
O. Messiaen: Quartet for the end of time, 1st movement: Liturgie de cristal.

The audition is to be played in orchestra tuning. A=442 hz

The ensemble does not cover travel expenses, accommodation, catering etc.
Salary and terms of employment follow the agreements for solo positions between the regional orchestras and the Danish Musician’s Union: 2024 levels between 363.420 and 514.380 kr annually, plus supplements and pension. More information on dmf.dk

About Ensemble MidtVest (EMV)
Ensemble MidtVest (EMV) is a versatile group of international musicians based in Denmark, known for the high-quality of its chamber music concerts, as well as for creating innovative musical experiences both on and off stage. Often experimenting with new formats, the Ensemble sheds new light on a wealth of repertoire from the past 500 years through lively and touching interpretations. It also creates free improvisation born of the moment and generates cross-over collaborations with a variety of artists outside the classical music sphere.
Established in 2002, EMV consists of nine classical musicians: a string trio, a wind quintet, and a pianist. It plays around 100 concerts a year in Denmark and abroad, and has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Nordic Museum in Seattle, Kings’ Place in London, as well as at Musikfestspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Vale of Glamorgan Festival in Wales, and Mantova Chamber Music Festival in Italy. And has worked with, among others, Pekka Kuusisto, Tai Murray, Alexandra Soumm (violin), Jennifer Stumm (viola), Torleif Thedéen, Andreas Brantelid, (cello), Martin Fröst, Charles Neidich, Johannes Peitz (clarinet), Alexander Lonquich, Christian Ihle Hadland, Aleksandar Madžar (piano), Bo Skovhus (baritone), The Danish String Quartet and Trio con Brio Copenhagen. Between 2014 and 2018, the world-class bassoonist Sergio Azzolini worked with EMV as an artistic consultant with a focus on the Historically Informed Performance of Baroque and Early Classical music and the well-known jazz pianist, Carsten Dahl was artistic consultant from 2007-2017 in the field of free improvisation.
