Double bass player (tutti)

Audition repertoire:

  • Movements 1 and 2 with cadenzas from either of the following works: Dittersdorf: Double Bass Concerto Nr 2 or Vanhal: Double Bass Concerto
  • Movements 1 and 2 from either of the following works: Bottesini: Double Bass Concerto Nr 2 or Koussevitzky: Double Bass Concerto
  • Orchestral and chamber music assignments to be announced after the closing date for applications
  • Please note the repertoire must be performed on an instrument with orchestral tuning!

Auditions and application period:

  • The auditions will be held at the Helsinki Music Centre on October 5–6, 2023 from 9.30 onwards.
  • The deadline for applications is 23.59 Finnish time on August 23, 2023.

Preliminary selection:

  • Applicants will be selected for audition on the basis of their application documents.
  • Applications must be accompanied by a CV (in English or in Finnish) which includes all relevant information about the applicant’s work experience (detailed information of each orchestra, vacancy, type and duration of the employment), education and other information relevant to the success of the application.
  • You may also include for example a video link to any recent double bass performance of yours to the application.

 

Audition invitation and a list of orchestral and chamber music repertoire will be sent by email to selected candidates after the closing date for applications.

The job-specific monthly salary for the position is €3 608,35 (with 5-year professional orchestra experience supplement €3 772,71). There is also dress and instrument allowance.

The Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra (FRSO) is the orchestra of the Finnish Broadcasting Company (Yle). The FRSO, a leading Scandinavian orchestra, can be heard in widely varied repertoire at its concert series in Helsinki Music Centre, on regular tours abroad and on radio, tv, internet and disc. The orchestra’s Chief Conductor is Nicholas Collon.
