The Swedish Radio Choir is looking for new singers!

Soprano and tenor, a fixed-term employment of 50% on 1-3 years contracts

The audition will take part 3-5 March in Radiohuset, Oxenstiernsgatan 20 in Stockholm.
Last date to apply is 19 January 2025.

As a member of The Swedish Radio Choir you are a part of a choir known worldwide for its unique sound.

For more than 90 years, the Swedish Radio Choir has contributed to the development of the Swedish a cappella tradition. Under the leadership of legendary conductor Eric Ericson, the choir earned great international renown. It is still hailed as one of the best choirs in the world. The choir members’ ability to switch between powerful solo performances to seamlessly integrating themselves in the ensemble creates a unique and dynamic instrument praised by critics and music lovers alike, as well as by the many guest conductors who explore and challenge the choir’s possibilities.

The permanent home of the Swedish Radio Choir since 1979 is Berwaldhallen, the Swedish Radio’s concert hall. In addition to the seated audience, the choir reaches millions of listeners on the radio and online in Sweden and throughout the world.

Kaspars Putniņš is the tenth Chief Conductor of the Swedish Radio Choir and Marc Korovitch is its choirmaster, both responsible of the ensemble’s continued artistic development. Two former Chief Conductors, Tõnu Kaljuste and Peter Dijkstra, have been appointed Conductors Laureate and continue to make guest appearances.   • A cv outlining your singing and choir experiences.
  • A motivation letter.
  • An audio file with two pieces of different character. In the audio file we also want to hear this exercise below; two times from every note, piano and forte, from your lower register chromatically up to your top note. Audio files acceptable are mp4, mpg, avi. mov, mkv, wmv, ogv, webm or flv.

        Employment and Contact Information

        The position is a fixed-term employment of 50% on 1-3 year contracts after probationary service, starting in August 2025. The Swedish Radio Choir rehearses in Radiohuset, Stockholm; normally Tuesdays and Fridays 9:30-12:30, Wednesdays and Thursdays 14:00-17:00, weekly. They give concerts every second week and have planned tours. Living in town is required for the employment.
