Audition recording guidelines

  • The following instructions are to ensure that any potential technical problems are minimised and that your recording is in a format that will best represent your performance to the panel.
  • Only video recordings are accepted for the first round program. Successful candidates will then be invited for the second and final rounds; these will take place in person in our hall.
  • Candidates are strongly encouraged to submit professional quality recording.
  • The recording should be shot in a single take to replicate a live audition. In
  • between the different works/excerpts, the candidates are allowed to re-tune or
  • clean their instrument if necessary. This must remain part of the integral
  • recording. Time may be taken between works, just as may happen in a live audition
  • Speaking during the recording is not allowed.
  • There must be only one camera and the candidate has to be visible from the
  • front from head to toe at all times including his/her hands.
  • Please leave a clock running visibly in the background as proof that no editing has taken place.
  • Please record in a room with a dry/medium dry acoustic.
  • Failure to adhere to the required program may result in disqualification.
  • Only solo recordings without accompaniment are allowed.
  • All standard recording file types are accepted (no Youtube links allowed).
  • The application must be accompanied by a declaration signed by the applicant and if applicable by the recording engineer/producer as well stating that:
  • The video recording is a true and recent recording of their playing
  • No editing or re-recording of the musical performance has taken place

When you have uploaded your video to musicalchairs, please email the following declaration to jobs@musicalchairs.info:
