Student assistant for Game and User Lab at Institute for Visual Design

The Royal Danish Academy – Architecture, Design, Conservation is looking for a student assistant to help run the Computer Game Lab and the new User Lab at Institute of Visual Design. The labs cover facilities and equipment at the institute that are used by students, teachers and researchers for constructing, testing and developing new digital design solutions.

Your tasks

As a student assistant, you will be working together with head of the educational program ‘Visual Game & Media Design program’, Jesper Juul, and the head of the User Lab, Arthur Steijn.

Your tasks will include:

  • Keeping the Game and User Lab computers up and running, in collaboration with the academy’s IT department.
  • Organizing and cataloging the equipment in the User Lab and Game Lab.
  • Being present once or twice a week in the User Lab to lend out equipment to students.
  • Physically organizing the User Lab.
  • Providing equipment support for students using the User Lab. 

Your skills

  • Ability to identify broken computers and communicate issues to the IT department
  • Good organizational skills, including spreadsheets
  • Preferably some Arduino and programming skills

Wages and conditions of employment

Employment and remuneration will be made in accordance with the collective agreement (overenskomst for studenterundervisere ved universiteter mv.) between The Danish Ministry of Taxation (Skatteministeriet) and the national federation of student employees (Studenteransattes Landsforbund).

You are required to be an active student and enrolled at a higher education institution during your employment.

The average weekly working time will be about 5-10 hours per week. Before and after a semester, the working hours per week may be higher. You will have a say in the organization of the working hours, so the job is compatible with your study. However, we expect you to be able to work during regular office hours (9-16).

The hourly salary rate is DKK 168.43 at the current salary level (October 1, 2021).  You will receive a pension contribution of 1.78 pct. of the salary rate.

The position is limited in the sense that employment will end without further notice once you completed your education at your educational institution.
