Co-principal Double Bass
The Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra (Kork) is looking for a new colleague in the bass section.
Bjørnstjerne Bjørnsons plass 1, 0340 Oslo, Norway
The Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra, Kringkastingsorkestret (Kork), is comprised of 54 musicians and we are proud of the orchestra's versatility. Classical symphonic music forms the core of our repertoire, and we strive to play in a chamber music style where every individual member takes initiative and contributes actively to our collective music making. In addition to our core repertoire, we also work within many other music genres, always presenting the highest quality, both as individuals and as an ensemble. It is expected that our new colleague contributes to the orchestra’s flexibility and high musical standards. Good and open communication is important both within the bass section and within the orchestra in general.
Particularly to the Co-principal Bass position:
The Principal Bass, together with the co-principal Bass, rotate in leading the section. Our goal is to maintain a high level of playing and motivation in both the principal and co-principal positions whilst simultaneously supporting the orchestra’s need for flexibility. How the players rotate between the 1st and 2nd chairs will be decided by the employer during the hiring process. The position of co-principal bass requires a 5-stringed bass or one with a c-extension according to need.
